These Suits are Hot!

I found these on www.blackmantailor.com, which is a Korean tailor who apparently specializes in suits for black people. I have come to this conclusion because the website is called Blackman, albeit it's not "black man", and a lot of the images are of black people. If you're as confused as I am as to why a Korean from Korea (not North America) is focusing on this market, then let's get together and discuss.

I would like everyone to note the chap on the right: would a black dude really wear an ascot? I think not, only because I haven't seen one until now.

Leafs Finally Heed My Calls to Can Quinn

The anger eminating from my belly because the Leafs couldn't fire Quinn must have become big enough to make myself heard in some swank ACC boardroom. I have been saying for three years they need to dump the loser, because Quinn, like all coaches needs to change teams every once and awhile. He needs to start fresh, work out new ideas, and generally just fucking do something that doesn't involve building the only geriatric team in the league. It was obvious three years ago, but dumb-ass Ferguson just realized it now.

The Leafs firing Can't Win Quinn was not because of the fans demanding it, critics, or Quinn's 1950's suits, but because Ferguson, as stated previously is a stupid moron, who somehow finally realized the lunacy of signing Quinn to another year. This has eluded him since the beginning of the 2003/2004 season when Quinn was still doing well, but it was apparent that if they kept him much longer the cracks in his abitlity to coach the team would turn into gaping crevaces. But, to be fair, he is a total idiot who couldn't fight his way out of a cardboard box.

Ferguson, who you can bet your sweet __________ (put colour here) ass will be canned after the Leafs lose show poorly again next season, is a total hack.

Surfing Blogs is a Dangerous Pastime

You may find yourself bored one day, as I often do and begin hitting the "next blog" button at the top right hand corner of the Blogger screen. It's pretty fun actually and you can cruise through people's blogs from around the world, hitting blogs from places like Brazil or somewhere they speak French. On the rare occasion you might come across something interesting, because you will find that largely people don't have anything interesting to say. Those are the blogs I leave comments on. I told some dude out of his three choices for travel: Vancouver, Ohio or Montreal (he is from Michigan) that "I don't know you, but I'm Canadian, so I know a thing or two about Canada. You should go to Montreal and drink beer and eat smoked meat sammies."

Like driving across Newfoundland (more on that later as I am going this summer) or driving anywhere for that matter, something can catch you by surprise -- a moose for instance. In the intensity of the moment you have to make a decision, you either swirve or you slam on the brakes. Either works, but with the latter, you're face to face with the moose. Long story short and all analogies aside, I present to you the "moose"

Ingnatieff is Canada's Karzai

Micheal Moore made a good point about Hamid Karzai and it's one that makes me laugh everytime I see the "democratically" elected leader of Afghanistan. Moore made fun of the fact that Karzai was educated at Harvard and spent a lot of his life in the States. Then suddendly he sprouted out of nowhere in Afghanistan with a heavy accent, wearing a robe and a local-style hat (see above pic).

Now, I was reading in the paper today that Michael Ignatieff has decided to run for the federal Liberal leadership. Like Karzai he has a degree from Harvard, where he was teaching Human Rights until he decided to come back to Canada after 30 years of absenteeism to run for the Liberals in Etobicoke. It is my belief that before you can say shit he will also pull a Karzai by dropping his Baaaaston twang and will start peppering his speech with "eh". He will be seen sipping Tim Hortons with abandon like some hick from Elmvale.

His policy is disturbing. He is for the war in Iraq. How is it that one can teach Human Rights and be for the war in Iraq? He sees the federal governments role as ensuring that everyone shares the same freedoms. “The role of the federal government isn't really any longer about federal-provincial jurisdictional squabbles or who's got the money. [It's about whether] Canadian freedom from coast to coast has the same quality and character,” says Ignatieff. This is code for an American style government that is limited in scope and depth. He has lost touch with this country and Stephen Harper, who might as well be a fucking American because he's so far up George Bush's ass that he is seeing through the eyes of one, is more Canadian than this hack.

He is a yankee puppet who should not be trusted. In Canada we don't say Jihad. We say "Take off, eh!"

Well once again the religous leaders of another one of the world's "great" religions* has spoken. Wearing an Armani instead of some pious hat or cloak, one of the foremost eulogists of the Scientology realm has taught the meak about the evils of certain moral issues aka South Park.

Being a great non-defender of religion myself, I can't help but wonder why someone would make such a big deal about something that seems so trivial. Well, your in luck my friend, because today I am going to give you the answer and you don't need to give me your soul, cash or wear any kind of clothing, cross, hat or other piece of observance. Religion is insecure.

I don't blame them. For "The Three Tenors" (Christianity, Judaism and the-now-"edgy" Islam) it must be hard selling 2000 year-old stuff. If I appeared on the shopping channel selling you a rock tire for your new Honda and some mud n' sticks to repair that hole in your roof, you would laugh. So would Nick Chavez. And it's the same reason I laugh at religion.

But Scientology is new you say? New stuff is insecure too. It has a lot to prove and something to hide. Just like that guy in high school who always called you a "fag". I bet you ten bucks he's gay now.

I would also like to add that I finally got on the Globe and Mail Join the Discussion today only because it is relevant to this post. And because I have tried like ten million times. Each time I get more and more angry... I still hate the Globe for not bowing before me, but anyway here's my two cents. I'm number 7.

Final Days At Chateau Howland Kinda Sad

Quicker than a freight train out of control, my time has come to leave the house where I have been living for the past five years. That's a long time in this renter's market, but it wasn't always so.

When I first moved into the Chateau Howland rental vacancies were at an all time low and I was only guaranteed a sublet for the summer. I took it, because being white and living at home is tantamount to committing murder as far as your parents are concerned. White parents think of you as a total loser if you don't leave home after university. And I had been a loser for exactly 2 years at the point of leaving, which doesn't seem like a long time, but there's only so many hairy eyeballs a young man can take. On the other side of the coin, if you have immigrant parents they will try their hardest to keep you at home until you're married or they're dead and if you leave them before that point you might as well have sentenced them to a life of death.

So in that fateful summer of 2001 I got my first real six string, I mean, apartment. That summer was great, but at the end it was just like the Brian Adam's song, my roomate Jaime quit i.e. he left to move in with his girlfriend and I took his place in the apartment and there was no Jody to get married. But you can see the resemblance. Let's examine the real Brian Adams and imagine me as "I" in the song:

Those were the best days of my life

So, without really knowing it at the time, those were the best days of my life, which isn't entirely true, because I have had some pretty fucking good times since.

I have had some good times since, because I moved out of that dumpy ass basement /first floor apartment, I moved in with my current lady-caller, Alicia, and I no longer had to live with two guys who might as well have shit on the floor as far as tidiness goes.

Living with Alicia in the second floor apartment or "eagles nest" as I call it was short lived, but it's where we gave way to temptation and formed the basis for the blossoming relationship that you see before you. After Alicia left, I found a roomate through my friend, the King of the Annex, Andrew.

Mark Pender, moved into the eagles nest in the winter of 2003. It was a cold day after Christmas and I was nervous and excited to meet what I assumed would be a leprechan-sized Catholic drunk bastard. I was wrong, he was actually tall...

But the time has come and Mark and I are parting ways, leaving way for a new generation of people to occupy the once lusterous Chateau Howland. Such is life. She is a mysterious beast.

Canadian Tux, Goes Deluxe, Eh

It seems that hoser has gone poser as Louis Vitton has introduced the most popular Canadian fashion: denim squared as part of his who-knows-what-line.

Mostly popular in areas located north of the city and in Toronto neighbourhoods such as Acores, the Sudbury dinner jacket or Canadian Tux resembles a sort of rogue noveau movement in fashion. "I love the Canadian Tux! It's so versitile" said Joanne from the fast growing Villaje neighbourhood in Toronto.

But a large majority of hicks across Canada used the style to differentiate themselves from the "townies". That's all changed now that urban hick is it and hicks are going to have to go back to wearing plaid again.

Cyclists vrs. Drivers? I Don't Think So...

If you haven't seen the pictures of the Cyclist vrs Driver fight in Kensington yet, check out this: crazy dude beating up woman. It has been painted in the media as a fight between a cyclist and a driver, when really it is between someone who cares about the city she lives in (perhaps a little too much to let it go) and a scumbag, who quite frankly couldn't give a shit about the town he lives in.

Regardless of what the issue is really about, it has both drivers and cyclist giv'n 'er against eachother on blogs and comment spaces around town. The Globe even did a big article in the Saturday paper that had hack, Margaret Wente (an unrepenting SUV driver, who writes close to 25% of her articles saying how she likes to drive around town in her gas guzzler, dazzling us with how much she loves to do it) vrs some other writer at the paper that rides his bike to work. Wente was pretty much all worked up that she doesn't have the right to hit cyclists that irritate her.

As someone who has biked to work a few times (like 3 times a year), I can tell you from even this limited experience that it is pretty bad out there. You really have to watch for your life and limb. There are a lot of Wente's out there. So if I were to weigh in modest opinion it would err on the side of the cyclist. As a driver too, I am very concious of cyclists that are around me.

When I saw the picture, I mentally waxed about how I miss fighting in hockey. Then I thought of the election naturally, and I started thinking about why I hate Harper. He would be the guy pointing the finger. He would be the guy pointing the finger because he's a fucking nerd. A nerd because he is an uptoit (sic) Christian prick with nothing better to do but eat church sandwiches and talk about how GLAD isn't an organization he would send his kids too. What a nerd.

This is the kind of man that would posturiously sell the country out for a dinner with George W. Bush. A man who would be able to join the Bush family at the table and make mutterings about gays and other types. This would be another church sandwich affair for the nerd. He would eat little sammies and bawl-smooch the Yankee madame, George W. Bush.

Do you now see why we would go to war? Because Harper is a christian nerd who has a hate on.

Take it from a smart man, it doesn't take a smart man to hate.

Stephen Harper is the Same Shit, Different Asshole

When E-day comes this Monday, we may all be fucked. With almost 40% of the country living in the delusion that by cutting billions from social programs to put $100 back in their pockets to spend on what they want, we are about to see what everyone in Ontario already knows. It doesn't work. All of us, in what I believe to be one of the few truly federalist minded provinces in the country, have seen this before. Take the picture above and change the face for Mike Harris. Same shit, different asshole.

I received a forwarded e-mail from my friend Randy yesterday, who recently moved out west to Harper's apparent homeland of Alberta (Harper was actually born and raised until the age of 21 in the hamlet of Leaside, Toronto). It said basically this: "Vote for the sake of change". Here is a little snippet from the e-mail:

But wait! Paul Martin is now saying the same thing. My mother told me forty years ago: "Fool me once - shame on you. Fool me twice - shame on me!"

The Liberals have had 34 years to be financially responsible. Remember, Jean Chretien was Trudeau's Finance Minister. Remember also, Paul Martin was Jean Chretien's Finance Minister. These people have been raising my taxes for thirty four years. They have been mis-spending my tax dollars for 34 years. 34 years!

And now Paul Martin says he'll stop taxing and spending. No way. Thank you for reading my story so far!

Why am I telling my story to you? Although I feel alone, I know that I am not alone. Your story may besimilar to mine. And you may also feel alone. One small voter in the midst of millions of voters. What can you and I do together to change things? Here is my idea: Lets you and I join up together. Just you and I. Together. As a small team of two. How can you and I fight a huge political machine? You and I have two things that we can use:

(1) Our individual personal connections.
(2) The Internet.

Here's what I find "special" about this e-mail:

-I like his use of exclamation marks! It's awesome! And really drives the point home!
-I like how he forgot to mention the Mulroney years where we got GST and I'm sure some more taxes.
-I like how he thanks us for reading his e-mail so far. That's great. I would like to thank you for reading this post so far.
-I like how he uses the George W. Bush quote how it should be said "fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." http://politicalhumor.about.com/library/multimedia/foolbush.mov. That's quaint.
-I also like he discovers that he is not alone. It's like a cheezy novella.

He carries on for some time, telling us he has two kids, he doesn't really like politics, while all the while it's glaringly obvious that this is written by some Conservative hack, who eats babies for breakfast.

Let me finish with this one point: Stephen Harper and this guy are fucks who should not be listened to. And sure as hell not voted for.
